I’m so excited to say that combat boots are still in! The difference is the color pallets: colorful in, dark out! How cool is that?

There’s so many different styles and colors of combat boots this summer, so I thought I’d share my favorite picks:

CURRENTLY LOVING: Simple Summer Makeup!

Hi, fashionistas!

I’m loving wearing almost no makeup! It’s low maintenance and goes with literally every outfit! Statement outfit or casual, simple beauty looks do the trick!

The last thing I want to worry about in summer is my makeup! In the chillier seasons, I can wear as much as I want, because it won’t melt off my face (lol). It’s really hot here in Texas, so the less makeup the better!

I’m one of those girls who doesn’t go out without makeup. That’s ok, but it’s pretty stressful! That’s one reason why I’m keeping my makeup routine on the quick side this summer!

I’ve put together some photos of looks I and my model Valerie created!

Outlet Stores: How to Score Big!

Hi, fashionistas!

As a girl who goes to outlet stores, I’ve learned a lot! I’ve created a list of ways to get what you’re looking for and not overspend:

  1. Know what type of item you’re looking for! Trust me, you don’t want to be in a big store full of fabulous items without any idea of what to buy. You’ll probably end up buying way more than you should have (most of which you might not even need). Your wallet will thank you!
  2. Look at everything in the store! Years ago, when I was a beginner, I would look at just a few things, and then make my choices. That’s not good, because there may be something you would like more without even noticing it! It’s hard not to be stuck on a specific item, but there’s always other options. Take your time!
  3. Pick up the items you are most likely to buy, and keep them in your arms! Don’t put them back on the rack and expect to find them later. This is especially useful and extremely important at a clearance event! Girls can go crazy sometimes!
  4. Stay within your budget as much as possible and use cash! If you go in with $20, don’t spend $40. The only times when this is acceptable is when the item costs more than you thought, needed to be better quality, or you can’t live without it! The bottom line is, would you pay full price for it if you had the money? If not, don’t buy it.
  5. Take the term “I can’t live without it” lightly! If it’s not a need, you can live without it. That’s what I tell myself every time I walk into a store! I almost always see something I “can’t live without”, but I actually can. It’s a hard thing to do if your fashion and beauty obsessed, but you’ll be fine!
  6. Lastly, if there’s going to be an awesome clearance event at a particular store that you love, be prepared! In a nutshell, that means get up early, research the products’ retail prices, and, if possible, bring a friend or family member who will help you find those scores!

It’s as easy as that! I know it might seem a little scary, because of some “horror” stories about people getting trampled at sale events or fighting over that special find. But, it’s fun! I’ve found a lot of big scores in my life, and I did it by using these tips & tricks! Even if I don’t buy much or I just go with a friend, I get a kick out of seeing the sales price vs the retail price! It’s addictive!

So remember these tips, and, don’t forget, have fun!

I love you guys! You mean so much to me! Until my next post, fashionistas!

PROM 2013 OUTFIT!

Hi, fashionistas!

I’m so excited to say that PROM is coming up! How exciting is that? Even if you aren’t going to Prom (like me), it’s always fun to fantasize what your dress would look like, what shoes you would wear, and what jewelry would be so chic! I always pictured my outfit to be a show-stopper (aka wowing everyone there)! I can’t wait until my first Prom!

Ok, now time to get down to business. Let’s talk price. This dress is only $36! Yes, I said $36! Score! The earrings are a steal, too! They are priced at $15! Now for the expensive part. I think shoes and clutches should be more expensive than jewelry or dresses, because you can reuse them multiple times with different outfits! Another tip is to get semi-classic shapes and details so you can wear them even more! The heels are $135, and the clutch is $398. I know, I know. This clutch is super pricy, but imagine the future possibilities! If you want to opt for a lower priced clutch similar to the one pictured below, click here!

Here’s the outfit I created on Polyvore (you can shop from this photo):

I also put a picture of a celeb wearing a beautiful hair style. I think it gives this look another formal and party-ready touch!

PASTELS…in beauty!

Pastels...in beauty!

Hi, fashionistas!

I’m so inspired by everything spring this year (since winter is almost over), but I would have to say pastel colors are my favorite! It’s kind of like Easter all around you, but better. I was totally obsessed with pastels last spring, but this spring I’m completely sold on this magical idea!
Nail polish is a great way to embed some pastel hues into your look without having your whole look be this same style! There are so many beautiful pastel shades of polishes out on the market! I created an interactive photo on Polyvore of nail polish color ideas! Here it is:
Pastel Nail Polishes 2013
I picked an array of different brands to choose from, so there are endless possibilities. You can even make a pastel-colored nail design by combining some of these polishes!
Eyeshadow is a great way to incorporate pastels into your makeup look! If you like a more subtile look then I would choose a light pink shade such as pale pink or peach. Personally, I love wearing pink eyeshadow! I especially like wearing the light pink ones, because I’m not too big on the bright shadows on me. Here’s another interactive photo of my picks for pastel eyeshadows:

Now for lips! Lip colors can look different on everyone, so keep that in mind when choosing your pastel lip shade. Sometimes, the color can be too pale or too dramatic for certain faces. Ok, now that we know that, let’s get started with the cute pastel lip colors! Pastel lip shades are so cute and fun! Nude is classy, pale pink is so cute, peach is fun, and purple is shockingly cool! I don’t suggest most shades like blue or green. That might look weird and awkward, but if you want to go for it, then by all means go for it, girl!

Natural Makeup Look and Product Reviews!

Hi, fashionistas!

I’m so excited to write this post, because I used my new camera to take these photos! I usually use my iPhone as my camera, but this one is so much better! I’m also excited, because I’ve been wearing this look or a similar look almost everyday recently! It’s very simple and easy. I’ve put together my reviews of all the makeup products I used for this look! They’re very informative! Let’s get started:

The photos:

DETAILS and REVIEWS:

For my eyeshadow, I wore Lancôme eyeshadow in “Classy Stiletto”. It’s a really natural shade, but is build-able for a night look. It also has some shimmer which gives it dimension. For my eyeshadow primer, I wore Urban Decay Primer Potion in “Sin”. It’s great for making colors pop, and also adds a bit of shimmer as well. Normally, I would wear a light, shimmery eyeshadow on my brow bone, but I thought this eye look didn’t need it.

The two mascaras I used were from the brands YSL and Clinique. The YSL mascara is a regular formulated one and the Clinique one is waterproof. I used the YSL mascara for lengthening, but it tends to flake off, so I put the Clinique mascara over it just to make sure it wouldn’t fall under my eyes. Who wants that? I sure don’t! At the end of the lash-fest, I put the Clinique mascara on my bottom lashes. All in all, a great combo!

My foundation is from the brand Revlon and the name of the type is “ColorStay”. I chose the one for oily and combination skin, because, well, I’m a teen. That’s my all-time favorite foundation! I love it so much, because it covers really well, it’s natural looking, and lasts a long time (all day)! It also doesn’t make my face greasy which is a great factor in picking a foundation.

My powder is from the brand Lancôme and is called “Dual Finish Powder”. It’s a great setting powder for foundation. I already used up a compact, and now I’m on to my second! That says a lot, because I like to try new types and brands of makeup, but for now I’m sticking with this one. I almost never do that! If you have oily skin, I don’t recommend that you wear this powder alone, because it will fade on your face. I had that happen to me.

The blush I used is from the brand Chanel. If you don’t know, Chanel is one of the all time leading designer brands! Anyway, this blush is probably the best I’ve ever used! I have like eight blushes in my makeup collection, and I’ve tried many more. Crazy, right? I bought this blush at Fashion’s Night Out at Neiman Marcus. It will probably last me about a year or so. I think it’s a pretty good deal!

The setting spray I used is the Urban Decay “De-Slick Setting Spray”. It’s a great setting spray, because it takes away all the oil off your skin. It also keeps your makeup in place for a very long time. That’s great if you’re going to a party or if you’re going to be out all day without touch-ups. Since I bought it, I haven’t needed to touch up my makeup! You can’t use it for eye makeup, but it’s a dream for face makeup! Loving it!

For my lips, I used a Neutrogena lip balm first. My lips get dry easily, so that’s why I used it before I put anything else on my lips. I then applied my Maybelline Color Whisper lipstick in “Cherry On Top”. It’s a little drying, but the color is fantastic! It also gives a little shine. Finally, I applied my Buxom Lipgloss in “Princess”. The shade is so pretty that I just couldn’t resist!

Formal Valentine’s Day Outfit and Beauty!

Hi, fashionistas!

You saw my previous post about a casual Valentine’s Day look, so now here’s my formal look! Let’s get started:

For my dress, I’m wearing my polka dotted, flow-y dress. It’s romantic enough for going out, and cute enough for your loved one to notice! The beige polka dots contrast very well with the navy dress.

The pastel tights are a good change from bare legs or black tights. They’re unexpected, and that creates a little mystery which is important! They also are a romantic shade.

The clutch is simple yet has a print. Cute! It has a classic shape which compliments the dress very well, plus it’s almost the same shade as the dress itself! Win win!

These heels are what I call a neutral black. They go with almost anything! They are great paired with dark colors such as the ones in this outfit.

Dangling earrings are great, because they create the illusion of a longer, thinner face.

Beauty:

Hair in a side ponytail is cute and flirty! Hair is a key factor in choosing makeup. It means a lot!

For formal date makeup, purple eyeshadow is a great shade to use! It’s mysterious in a way your loved one can’t explain, and that’s a good thing! You also need to put a shimmery eyeshadow (cream or white) on the inner corner of your eyes and the brow bone (below your eye brow). That makes your eyes look bigger and prettier! It’s a must for me (even on a regular day)! It also makes the look a little lighter. Berry lipstick and lip liner is a great idea, too. It plays up your eyes and give you the look of a flawless face. I love it!

Casual Valentine’s Day Look! ♥

Hi, fashionistas!

Today, I’m writing about the ever-so-popular holiday: Valentine’s Day! It’s a special holiday for loved ones, so it’s nice to dress up. But, what about casual dates? Well, I have just the outfit and beauty tips for you! They’re romantic and casual at the same time! Let’s get started:

This crochet dress is perfect paired with a denim jacket, laceless oxfords, and a pop of red (bag)! It’s romantic enough to set the vibe of the look. Nude shoes go very well with this type of look, because they don’t detract from the outfit. A pop of color creates a uniqueness that can’t be beat!

Here is the outfit:

Beauty tips:

Curly/curled hair is great on an occation like this! It adds to the romantic vibe that this look has. Shimmery eye makeup and blush are also good factors to add. A pink blush will give your face a flushed effect which is super cute! Pink lipstick or gloss and sky-high mascara will finish off your look beautifully!
